Master's Degree Requirements - Total of 27 Credits
I. Thesis Seminar - 2 credits
Students must complete 2 credits in the Thesis Seminar course.
II. General Elective Courses - 12 credits
At least 9 credits must be earned in courses aligned with the student's Research Area.
III. Special Topics Courses - 6 credits
At least 3 of these credits must be from courses offered within the student's designated Research Area.
IV. Complementary Academic Activities - 3 credits
Credits may be earned through academic publications (e.g., journal articles, book chapters), participation in academic conferences, or by completing courses exceeding the minimum required for degree completion.
V. Thesis Defense - 4 credits
Successful defense of the Master's thesis is required for degree conferral.
Doctoral (PhD) Degree Requirements - Total of 44 Credits
I. Dissertation Seminar - 3 credits
Students must complete 3 credits in the Dissertation Seminar course.
II. General Elective Courses - 6 credits
At least 3 credits must be obtained from courses within the student's Research Area.
III. Special Topics Courses - 15 credits
A minimum of 9 credits must be completed in courses specifically related to the student's Research Area.
IV. Complementary Academic Activities - 3 credits
These may include scholarly publications, conference presentations, or completion of additional coursework beyond the minimum degree requirements.
V. Complementary Training - 9 credits
These credits may be fulfilled by the recognition of coursework completed during a Master's program in Philosophy at a CAPES-accredited graduate program.
VI. Dissertation Defense - 8 credits
Successful defense of the doctoral dissertation is required for degree completion.
