Introduction

The International Seminar of Language, Literature and Cultural Processes (SILLPRO) reaches its 5th edition in 2022. Throughout its history, the event held by the Postgraduate Program in Language and Culture (PPGLET) at University of Caxias do Sul (UCS) hasalways aimed at promoting interdisciplinary academic debate, respecting the different forms of artistic expression and critical thinking.

In this edition, the V SILLPRO has the theme Voices of Global South. The idea is to promote dialogue between researchers and the general public, especially in the fields of Literature, Linguistics and similar areas of study, with a proposal that contemplates current studies questioning the exhaustion of the modern rational model. These perspectives of contemporary knowledge, sensitive to the complexities of a world in constant transformation, exalting reflections founded in the experiences of political and cultural resistance originated from the South, will guide symposiums, thematic tables and the event's conferences. Still kept at the margin by the legacy of colonial ideology, the Global South raises its voices to claim new ways of intercultural relationships, to be ever further away from inequality and prejudice.

V SILLPRO also marks the 20th anniversary of the Postgraduate Program in Language and Culture (PPGLET) which, during this period, has graduated more than 200 Masters and remains a reference in research in Rio Grande do Sul.
