Planning and Self-Assessment

Academic Planning

Based on the results of institutional self-assessment, the Graduate Program in Philosophy at UCS consistently strives to implement the goals established for each four-year period. These goals are articulated in the Academic Plan for 2025?2028. This document, developed collaboratively by the program?s faculty and students with the guidance of the University's Planning Office and in alignment with the Institutional Development Plan (PDI), defines as its mission the pursuit of excellence in the training of Masters and Doctoral candidates through teaching and research, with a focus on disseminating knowledge in the field of practical philosophy. It also sets forth key objectives: academic excellence, respect for the plurality of philosophical orientations, autonomy of thought, freedom of expression and research, interinstitutional cooperation, intellectual integrity, and interdisciplinary openness. The Academic Plan is renewed every four years. Academic Planning - Graduate Program in Philosophy

Self-Assesment

Since 2023, the Graduate Program in Philosophy at UCS, in collaboration with its Special Self-Assessment Committee (CEA), has maintained a continuous self-assessment policy aligned with both the UCS Institutional Development Plan and its Institutional Assessment Committee (CPA). The current composition of the CEA includes the Academic Program Coordinator (Evaldo Antônio Kuiava) and one faculty representative from each of the program?s Research Areas: Jaqueline Stefani (Research Area: Ethics) and Lucas M. Dalsotto (Research Area: Social, Political, and Legal Philosophy). Additionally, the CEA includes student representatives: Aline Canela (PhD Candidate) and Caroline Miola (Master?s Program Student). For the 2023?2024 biennium, external members of the CEA included Professors Amaro Fleck (Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais) and Jelson de Oliveira (Pontífica Universidade Católica do Paraná). Within the scope of our Graduate Program, the self-assessment policy encompasses the following components: (i) self-assessment via a Google Forms questionnaire completed by faculty and students; (ii) individual self-assessment by each faculty member regarding the fulfillment of goals established in their respective work plans; (iii) self-assessment as part of the faculty re-accreditation policy; (iv) qualification processes for thesis and dissertation projects; (v) evaluation of student research output in directed research seminars; and (vi) data consolidation. At the institutional level, self-assessment is carried out through the Special Graduate Studies Diagnostic Committee, coordinated by the UCS Office of Graduate Studies and active since 2023.
