The Post-Graduation Program in Law, academic master level, from UCS, began in 2001, and is recommended by CAPES/MEC. It was evaluated and ranged as Concept 4.

Objectives

  • To form master level educators and to consolidate scientific research, seeking to stablish a theoretical axis in reflection about the relationship with the environment, law, and society.
  • To develop, at excellence level, activities of teaching and scientific and critical research, about relevant problems in environmental law.
  • To form qualified human resources to teach under graduation and specialization students in the area of law, and in related areas for planning and execution of scientific and institutional research projects in higher education institutions, and in public organs or private agencies financing research.
  • To democratize existent knowledge and to enhance criticism and production of new knowledge, which are in praxis and theoretically relevant, about environmental law for the region, the state, and the country.

Human Resources Profile

This Program exists to form practitioners (mainly professors), which will be capable to do research, to analyze, to critically evaluate, and to teach - in different dogmatic and theoretical subjects of Law, and in research and extension projects in which they would act - the content, the scope, the functions, the aims, and the relevance of environmental law. These practitioners will be able to understand political, social and economic implications of environmental law, and to act upon them.

Target students

Higher-level undergraduate students in Law or related areas, duly recognized by Conselho Federal de Educação (Federal Council of Education).

Classes will be concentrated on Thursdays and Fridays (fulltime), fortnightly.
